New Filter Installation

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to ask a quick question regarding installing a new filter. Have a 56 litre tank and the current filter is doing nothing more than a trickle despite there being no blockage.

Have just bought a Fluval 2 plus and just wanted to check that because there is no beneficial bacteria in the new filter, I would have to run the new filter alongside the old for a week or so. Can you confirm whether this is correct or if there are any other ways of doing this?

I would leave it with the other one for three weeks to make sure it got enough bacteria and keep testing the water to make sure you dont get any spikes from ammonia and nitrite.
