Hey guys,

Here are two new Discus of mine in quarantine. I snatched this Blue Turq up as quick as possible, it has excellent shape. I have never seen wild fish in my area and when I saw this guy I had to take him home. They are being fed Discus pellets and brine shrimp 3-4 times daily. A 25-30% water change is done once daily.

Here is the Tefe, a little camera shy:

Here is my very brave Turq:

Enjoy!

They look to have excelent body shape, and wild colour discus are always fantastic :good: What size are they at?

Wilds are hard to get in my area also. Are they wild caught specimins or are they tank bred?

All the best

Thanks Rabbut!

I was told they where wild caught. I am not sure what size you want to know? Tank or fish? The wild is about 5 or 6 inches, full grown. The Blue Turq is maybe 3-4. They are in a 29 gallon.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I was actually surprised that they have been doing good this far. I thought the wild one would do some damage to this guy, him being much bigger and them being the only guys in the tank. You think its a fluke, or possible because it is wild? I am not sure but if everything keeps going well I will wait till' the little guy grows and then add them both into the main tank. :good:

I did get a couple of wilds at one point, and they were real nasty.... I dunno much about the general personality of wild caught discus, but it is usual with most wild fish of other species to be realy sckitish for the first few weeks. Mebe they are just settling in properly and don't yet feel confident enough to bicker with each other?
I'll openly admit you know more about these guys than I do, so feel free to shoot that idea down in flames :good:

All the best
Rabbut

Oh Rabbut, do not be so harsh on yourself. You have knowledge that could challenge any of the Discus keepers on this board. Besides, the behavior of a Wild caught fish is pretty new for me so in fact you probably know more!

Your idea may be possible. They went through a stage of aggression, but everything has been fine for the last week, but who knows...
