i just bought an adult pair of black convicts.i want to bred them but i dont know how to.any help.(i have them in a tank with 1 oscar,2cory cats, and 5 baby pink convicts about an inch long each.)

Uhhh ohhhhhhhh. You might want to remove the oscar. THey need a minnimum, and i menat ABSOLUTE minnimum of 55g gallons. Plus, convicts , when breeding have been known to kill 12 inch oscars! Corries will be killed by the convicts, and so will the smaller convicts. A breeding pair of convicts will not let anytihng else in the tank live once they spawn.

Hi clay, were they sold to you as a pair? i'm assuming they are M and F,

As said above Convicts are very easy to breed but become Very aggressive when they do so, a 30G is the suggested size for a pair, but you would not be able to keep anything with them.

What do you plan to do with all of the fry? just a word of warning they are extremely hard to rehome

i am going to keep the best looking ones then im going to give them away or use them as feeders. to answer your other question i bought them as a breeding pair from a fish abuser(a.k.a. a crappy pet store)

in my 55g tank with my live bearers and large tetras

The Oscar will eat the livebearers and tetras, and the convicts will most likely get very agreesive very soon and attack the tetras and livebearers. The corries will be fine though.

the oscar is only 2and a half inches long so he should be fine and if not i have too many guppies anyway

even at 2.5 inches it will eat everthing in sight!!!

oh well i seriously have let my guppy population getout of control anyway i have to be pushing 200 gupies including babies

Convicts are very easy to breed. Just put the m and the f in an aquarium by themselves, and let 'em do their thing. That's all you have tp do. But be warned they have a lot of babies.
