Yay! Very nice day so I went to petsmart and petco. Petsmart was first, they always have carried some larger specimens. They have 4-5" JD's and oscars in stock pretty much all the time, and their africans are always decent sized. Petco has cichlids, but the section is smaller, they fish are very small, and I have trouble telling which are which.
So I find the convict tank, Young cons, a few small jags (1/2 inch), some larger convicts. I spot the largest male, longest fins, and one of the females (3 were about the same size) who was fattest and best looking, appearing to be the dominant female. I watched them, they both remained near each other, bossing the other fish around etc. I pretty much decided they were a pair and had the lady get them for me, they are about 1.5-2 inches each, $3.50 each, but heck theres no where else to find them. Stopped at petco, found some white/pink convicts, but I couldn't sex them and they just didn't look as nice as normals IMO.

Coloring up nicely.

Is there nothing else in the tank? Cause I would put maybe a few fake plants or a peice of wood or something in there so they can hide if they want. It will help their acclimation come along a little faster. The reason why you see alot of fish huddled in the corner of an lfs' tanks is because they have nothing to hide behind/in so they try to cower in the corner cause they don't like really open spaces.

good luck with the breeding :good: FYI, all convicts (1 male and 1 female) are a pair, just add water and fish as I always say  They do the rest :) No conditioning required, atleast not IME....
