I couldn't resist grabbing this pair off of Aquabid. Apparently they started out looking like normal mustard gas and changed color from there. Some of the fish from the spawn have remained normal MG, but some have changed color to the point of being yellow butterflies. I'm pretty excited to breed them and see what happens! :D

ETA: By "spawn" I mean the spawn that this pair came from. I haven't received them yet, much less bred them. :)

i think (correct me if i'm wrong) that mustard gas involves the butterfly genes which are due to marbling. so i guess the marble genes weren't expressed until later

I'm not sure if anyone has it entirely figured out yet, but butterfly and marble are definitely associated with each other. It's normal for marbles to change color and pattern throughout their lifetime so I'm not terribly surprised about these changing color. It is a pretty dramatic color change even for marbles though!

Wow they are beautiful

I'd love to see how the babies turn out if they spawn for you
