Hi everybody,

sorry for making this quick, but this is an emergency

I added 8 cherry shrimps (got them on eBay) to my tank today. When I did they seemed fine.
By that time I had removed approx. 10 litres of my 54 L tank as I was gonna buy more plants to protect my guppy fry better.

Now after planting the plants I added the rest of the water and tried my new test kit (only had nitrite test so far, always showing 0 - had no probs with water or fish).
When I switched the light back on, I finally found most of the cherries in front of the tank, looking like dead.
I immeditaelt put the ones I found in tap water - knowng this isnt great, but it cant get worse and changed another 20 litre of water. I believe my tap water PH is too much

nitrite 0
nitrate 0.5
armonia 0
ph 7.6

Please help, how can I rescue them if it is not too late already?

Greetings,

Dany

EDIT: I put the shrimps immeditaely back after the water change.
I see 3 now. They haven't been moving at all, but one just got back on its feet :hyper: I hope it's fine. I am soo upset.

Btw. tank has been running for about 4 weeks, old filter media had been used for a quick start. The plant is heavily planted. New plants have been washed before I added them today.

Watching them for a while some seem to get better and others might be dead :shout:

I have read through threads in advance before I got them and got java moss, roots(which were soaked for some days and boiling water was poured over them several times) and moss balls.
There are plenty! of plants in the tank and they should have lots of hiding places.

Within 3-4 hours I left them in their bag and kept adding tank water - I really thought they would be fine.

I have now looked for possible mistakes - but even the PH seems fine for shrimps. In my panic I thought the high amount was causing the problems.

I have used Ferropol 24 for the last 2 weeks or so, but haven't used any today, just to avoid possible problems with the shrimps. I have also read that the common fertilizers should have no impact on shrimps, because the amount of copper is too small.
I live in a new building, so I do not think we have copper pipes...

I am lost and honestly wonder what went wrong.
I just hope at least a few make it and are healthy in the tank.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Dany
