Hi,

I just completed the fishless cycle yesterday on my 60litre tank. I used the pure ammonia method and it worked perfect. Tested the water every day until ammonia & nitrite were being converted from 4 to zero in 12 hours or so.

Finally changed about 80 to 90% of the water to get the nitrate level down and let the tank run for 12 hours before adding 5 cherry barbs - 1 male and 4 female. I added the barbs yesterday at lunch time and waited until about 11pm to feed them a pinch of food. I then feed them another pinch of flake this morning but I dont think they ate very much? Since I put them in yesterday they have been really quite at the bottom of the tank hiding behind some driftwood and plants and arent that active. Is this normal?

Any advice for feeding? Should i turn the pump off for a minute or leave it on?

Any other advice would be well appreciated as I am a novice fishkeeper. Oh and do they prefere fast or slow moving water because my filter says it suitable for up to 70litres but I cant control the flow. Im just wondering if maybe the flow is too much and maybe thats why they are hanging in the corner & bottom of tank behind objects.

I also tested the ammonia level this morning and it was zero so I dont think its that, the tempature is 25c.

Thanks..

they'll just be hiding due to being moved to a new environment, give them a few days and they should come out :good:

wait till they get breeding and the colours on the male are stunning :good: :good:
