I am wanting to put new carpet in the living room sometime this year and am concerned about moving the 400+ litre tank.  I would guss it weights well over 550kg including the tank and cabinet!  It will only need to be moved from one side of the room to the other and then back again within an hour or so whilst the fitters are there but there will be a lot of planning and preperation to do before they get there as there is no way we will be able to lift it over a roll of carpet with any water and fish in.

Has anyone else got any tips of the best way to do this?

Carpet round the tank perhaps?  lol

Not an entirely stupid idea, but depends what it would look like.

Best I can come up with is, empty tank, move tank, and either house the fish elsewhere and move it all back once they're gone or set the tank up somewhere else and do the same a week later at the next water change.
