I've noticed that quite a few of you, from the looks of your photos, have some nice quality digital cameras. :) Within the next few weeks, I hope to have one of my own - it's one of those purchases that we've wanted to make for years, just haven't really gotten around to it. Well, now's the time, but problem is we have NO clue what models to even begin with.

If possible, those of you who have decent digital cameras, could you let me know what kind you have, about what you paid, when you got it - and if possible, a link to pictures you've taken with it? (Preferrably of fish, that's mostly what mine will be used for. ;))

Sorry to be such a bother, but I haven't a slightest clue what to look for other than MegaPixels, which I've heard isn't the only thing you want to take into account. I've heard that you can have all the MPs you want, but if you have a crappy resolution, it won't really do you a bit of good. :)

Kodak DX6490. I paid $700 Canadian for it.

I think you have seen the pictures it takes. :D

Also it is a 4.0MP.

:edit: got it in January.

Olympus C-4000Z. Paid around $400 (it's cheaper now). 4 MP.

I chose it because it has very nice macro capabilities (useful with fish), and was reviewed extremely well. It's at least a year and a half old so I can't even remember all the things it got great scores for, but they were numerous. At the time a Nikon Coolpix was the only other type of camera I would have considered... I don't know what's out now that's good as that was the last time I researched.

Here are some shots taken with it: http://www.machineedge.com/flowers/

And here's a quick example of the type of macro shot possible: http://fish.orbust.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=38661

Granted, I'm not a professional, and I adjust the hell out of the pictures when I'm done.

I have a fujifilm Finepix F410. I only paid £150 for it and the only thing that dissapointed me was there was no manual focus (very usefule when shooting fish). Having said that, the auto focus is so quick on Macro mode, that I don't have any problems. Here some of the best pics Ive taken with it

Scroll down to the second lot of pictures I took, as the first lot were some of the first pictures I took, and I was still figuring it out!!
