Ok added male & female BPT's last week male has developed a spot that I assume has started inside and spread outward? - it sticks out either side of farthest point of body, where it meets Caudal fin.

The female isn't fairing well either in the sense that her anal fin looks torn. Doesn't look as though any is missing but like ripped along the veins toward body if that makes sense.

These two are obviously not happy I understood this species was unique in the tetra world in that male & female pair ok. Should be ok stock as from Maidenhead aquatics. Male spends a lot of time hding but is still very quick and eats well. He was chasing female a lot but she was having non of it...

ok I am sorting another tank out for this pair as I am aware there might be a bacterial / viral issue here.

Thanks,

Olly.

The spots do they look like a caulifower or cluster of eggs.
The spots do they look hard of soft like filled with fluid.
Any redness to the spots.

Hi Wilder damn I am sure I replied an hour ago

Oh well hmm not sure really the photos you see above are the best I have seen he is very quick lol!

Looks more like puss to me I don't think it is a cauli shape. No redness as far as I can see.

I am still struggling to get him (between other jobs lol) and I don't want to lift all my plants up

Any tips?

If its filled iwth puss I would issolate him and use a bacterial med.

Hi Wilder not sure what to do atm - I cannot get him without causing hell in my tank lol and knocking plants etc  Soooo, will this stuff effect my filter / shrimp / snails?

I know this sounds wrong but I am tempted to just leave him and try 50% water changes every other day or so or failing interpet 9 above is there anything else I can use that is also kind to my tank?

Regards,

Olly.

It dosn't wipe benefical bacteria out completely, but it can knock water stats slightly the interpet med.
Can you move the shrimp and snails.

You can try the water changes but if no improvement I would add the med.
Good Luck.

ok quick update all seems much better now. The male is back to hastling the female again and she is having non of it lol! I suspect getting more BPT's (although not for some weeks) might reduce stress.

Thanks,

Olly.

So the growths are getting smaller and going.
