Ok added male & female BPT's last week male has developed a spot that I assume has started inside and spread outward? - it sticks out either side of farthest point of body, where it meets Caudal fin.
The female isn't fairing well either in the sense that her anal fin looks torn. Doesn't look as though any is missing but like ripped along the veins toward body if that makes sense.
These two are obviously not happy I understood this species was unique in the tetra world in that male & female pair ok. Should be ok stock as from Maidenhead aquatics. Male spends a lot of time hding but is still very quick and eats well. He was chasing female a lot but she was having non of it...
1. Water parameters. (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, PH, temp', Hardness etc)
PH = 6.8
NH3 = 0
NO2 = 0
NO3 approx 30 might repeat as seems a bit higher than normal..
Temp 24.5 C
2. A full description of the fishes symptoms.
Male white bulging spot both sides of tail where body meets tail
3. How often you do water changes and how much.
7 days 50% (fully planted E.I.
4. Any chemicals and treatments you add to the water.
Blagdon Fresh Start for ponds with water change - started using instead of Nutrifin aqua plus a while ago. Lots of other powders for plants nothing changed in dosing regime.
5. What tank mates are in the tank.
6 Cardinals, 3 Neon 1 Female adult Platy 7 babies about 13 RCS
6. Tank size.
180L
7. Finally Have you recently added any new fish?
Yes, these. 22/4 (9 days ago)
ok I am sorting another tank out for this pair as I am aware there might be a bacterial / viral issue here.
Thanks,
Olly.
