hi there

i currently have a 65 ltr tank iv had for 10 months its fully matured and running very well, i wanted a bigger tank and got a deal i couldnt refuse a bought a fluval roma 200 ltr tank with an exturnal filter any ideas as to cycling this tank as quick as possible please thank you :good:

i did exactly the same as you just after Christmas, if you can remove all the media from one filter to another, you can move your current stock over straight away. I left mine just over a week until i added new fish and didn't have any casualties. However, i have done 3 day water changes, even though my water stats were fine. Post some pics when ya done.

If you are moving your current stock to the new tank, just move your media into the new filter and your stock to the new tank. Give the new tank a couple of days to settle down before you move any media or fish as that'll allow the temp to stabilise and the fine air bubbles to go away.

If you want this for different fish, do a fishless cycle. Seed your filter with 1/4 of the media from your current tank to get things going. Replace the media in your old tank so it's got a full amount just to be safe and use a test kit to keep an eye on the water quality in the 65 ltr once it has lost some media.

Fishless cycle instructions can be found here - Fishless Cycle

the only media i can take from the tank is the ceramic hoops as i like to call them but my new exturnal filter has 3 layers of ceramic should i mix them or put them in one chamber

Mix them =) don't move any media unless you'll have an ammonia source in the tank, though. Either move them with the fish or start a fishless cycle straight away.
