New Betta

Ok I just got a new crowntail betta from my LFS and I havent had bettas in a while and i was wondering if breathing hard is normal for bettas when they first come home. he is moving his gills rapidly and the black gill tissue i think it is is moving in and out. Is this normal? Help me out please

yes its normal especially if its new and you've been messing around or peeking at it a lot

add a little pinch of aquarium salt. It will help.
