New Baby Swortails

One of my female swordtails gave birth today. I caught 17 of them and found 5 that were born dead and watch about another 10 get eaten before i could net them. I am so excited I actually got to see them being born. I think she maybe having a few more as I can still see black dots in her belly.

Thank You. I will post pictures in a few days. They are so tiny right now I dont know if i can catch them on the cam LOL. The mother is orange. If my male is the father than he is orange to. I am not sure if he is the father as i have heard they can store sperm for 6 months and I have not had them for 6 months yet.

Wow - fry are so cute lol. Sounds like you're not as nutty as me - my platy was on it today and I netted her, stuck her in a jug and sat with her in my lap taking out all 82 fry as they were born and putting them in another jug.
My parents think I've lost my marbles. Jester's lost hers, she looked like she'd swallowed one! lol.

Laura- I didnt sit there all day waiting for the babies. but I did check on them about every 5-10 mins. I love watching fry grow up they are so cute and tiny.
