Hello all. Well I finally found a tank that Mrs Red likes so we are into week 2 of cycling. Using some of the media from another tank so I don’t expect it to be too much of a problem other than the local tap supply is high PH, 7.8. I have used three doses of PH down but nothing is happening so I will be doing a water change over the weekend. I am considering using the reclaimed rain water from the butt in the garden. What are you thoughts on using rainwater mixed with tap water?

Don’t know if anyone has come across these aquariums before and what are you opinions

I am not familiar with that tank, so I really can't comment on it. I can comment on your pH. pH 7.8 is alittle high, but not much too worry about. I would not try to adjust the pH during your cycle. pH flucuations are more harmful to your fish than high pH. After your cycle, there are more natural ways of lowering your pH than pH Down. Adding driftwood to the tank will help and looks nice. You can also add peat to your filter. If you acclimate the fish to your pH, most fish will do fine. Rain water, mixed with tap water works wonders. Just don't use pure rainwater. Rainwater lacks the minerals your fish need and can cause other problems if you don't mix it with tap water. Good Luck and welcome to the forum! :good:
