Hi all,

I am currently trying to decide on what aquarium to buy as my existing one has seen better days.....any advice? I am looking at the Juwel Rekord 60 and the Rena Aquarama 60......? Somebody mentioned the filtration system on the Juwel wasn't that great?

Between the two id pick the rena becasue of the 300LPH filter as opose to the 200LPH on the jewel.

I would choose the juwel but thats coz im getting the Juwel rio 300 and having an extra filter but if you want the filtration then I would go with the other..

How much filtration you need depends to some extent on what you are planning to do with the tank. I have mine fairly heavily planted and moderately stocked with small fish (pretty close to the 1 inch/gallon in all my tanks, and no fish over 3 inches; also no plecs or similar). For this, the Juwel 60 is fine. If you want heavier stocking, messier fish, no plants, less maintenance, then you may well prefer the stronger filtration.

i own the rena 60 tank but have never owned a jewel so can't comment on them, but i've kept many different fish in my rena with no probs adn the filters not bad.

:good:

Thanks for all the advice guys!! :)
I have decided on the Rena.....more because after having a good look at the Juwel and the built in filtration unit (which really looks great).....I figured it would be difficult to maintain seeing my tank is pretty much slotted into a hole in the wall so it is sometimes difficult to get into the tank if you can't pull things out....e.g. the filter.....so I think for practical reasons the Rena would be better :)
