I just brought 2 angels home yesterday. One seems fine. One is drifting around like he's about to die. When I checked ammonia this am it was 0. Nitrite was 0 when checked last night. Nitrate is fine. Water is about 82 degrees.

What can I do to increase his chances of living & recovering?

I don't have a hospital tank but I do have a breeding net I can separate him in if that would help. Or like I could set something up tomorrow but it wouldn't be cycled.

I've also lost 2 cardinal tetra in last 2 days but just brought those home Thursday and understand it's pretty common for them to have a highr mortality rate with the stress of rehomimg.

I'll update if he's alive inthe AM unless someone tells me tonight to move him to breeding net or something I'll just leave him be.

Unfortunately he was dead within minutes. Also found another dead cardinal/neon. Help! Don't want to lose more! Other angel brought home yesterday is hiding behind rock on bottom. No physical appearance problems yet.

Tank is 55g. Mates are:

1 rainbow
4 female blue gourami
3 other angels (1 at least double size)
9 mollies counting babies
20ish cardinals/neons

Don't know what else to say. Oh one of the gourami appeared to have a bit of a wound at her tail area. They were feisty last night may have fought. So don't want to rule out violence as the cause.

There actually something going on in your tank, could you provide more info, what filtration, lights, planted tank? water change weekly? ph?

Brand of filter isn't coming to mind. But it's the kind that hangs over edge of tank. Has carbon insert thing. I did replace 1 of the 2 inserts this week.

The light is a fluorescent light. Whatever came with it.

The water changes are about 75 percent 1-2 x per week.

I can test the ph. It's been a while. But I know it's high 7s last time I tested

What is your tank size? From relative little of what i know, Angels need a BIG tank...not that i'm saying yours isn't, but that 'hang-on' filter is designed for smaller tanks, ones which may not have the volume and capacity to home Angel fish. Or am i missing something here?

Terry.

Tank is 55. The filter is for up to 60. And is filtering the water fine.

Oh brand is aquatech 30-60. Got it used but filters come from walmart. Havent seen them anywhere else yet.

As of this morning the gold one was swimming around. May be frightened more than sick. What would he like to have to hide in?

No. The bacteria are fine. Ammonia and nitrites are still zero

Does your filter have an biomax?
- Increases biological filtration efficiency by 30%
- Enhances ammonia and nitrite reduction
- Expands biological capacity of aquariums
- Provides optimal living conditions for beneficial bacteria
- Safe for fresh and saltwater use

Honestly I never heard about Aquatech, maybe you should think getting a better filtration forward , I am sure there a problem with your bio. Your filtration is one of the most important components of your tank, the heart of your ecosystem

Sometimes you can just get a weak fish, ive had an angel dye on me like that before, i it happens quick after putting them in chances are they werent too great before, although ive found Angels to be pretty hardy

If the problem were my bio wouldn't I be reading high ammonia or nitrites?

At the moment a cremecicle Molly I have had for a while looks sick. I need practical ideas of what can be causing it that I can check for and remedy.

The filter is fine & works fine. Everything I know that the filter is supposed to do is fine. If there is a specific thing that can be traced back to the filter I'll bite.

I did switch to a regular dechlorinator recently in place of the more expensive treatment. But the only difference would be heavy metals and my water report doesn't show an issue with those.

At the moment I don't see the other angel I was worried about at all

With the temp being higher could it be low oxygen in water? I just put an extra air stone in case
