I do not know if I am posting this in the right place but here goes anyway. My drug addict next door neighbours abandoned their house and their pet goldfish. For eight weeks it survived with no food and when we rescued it the tank was smelly and filthy. My husband scrubbed the tank and we bought new gravel, a pump, fish food and a couple of ornaments. The tank did not have a lid so my husband cut a piece of perspex to size and drilled some air holes and "Lucky", as he is now known is thriving. I would like to buy a new hexagonal shaped tank to fit in the corner of my kitchen. Can anybody suggest where I can get one. I would also like to put a light in it and would love to have a moonlight effect. Can anybody please give me their advice as I know absolutely nothing about fish or lighting or anything like that.

Thanks for taking on the goldfish it would of died bless him.
What type of goldfish is it.
Need 20gal for the first goldfish and 10gal for every other one added, hex tanks are no good for goldfish.
An excellent filter as there massive waste producers.
I would ask a mod to move this for you to the coldwater section of the forum you will get a lot of help over there.
Mods names are in blue at the bottom of the forum, good luck.

good on you for the rescue!

theres a buy and sell section on this forum that often has tanks for sale in and ebay is good but you have to do a local search (advanced search).

easy option is a pet shop tho. some garden centers too.

it would be good to get the tank a filter, if you read the FAQ's on this site youll see why. basically fish emit something thats poisoneous to them and a filter helps keep it under control.

you can get complete setups for tanks which will include a light and if you search ebay for aquarium moonlighting theres ones on there ranging from about £10 - £20.

The tank is 16" x8" x8" and I have a fluval1 plus filter at the moment. This is the tank I found the goldfish in. Why are hex tanks no good? Lucky is small and I thought a large hex tank would have been ideal.

M goldfish is only about two inches long, what can it grow to and if I was getting a new tank what size would you recommend
