They're lovely! What are they? I don't know much about African cichlids.

Out of interest, what LFSs do you use around Doncaster? I live sort of halfway between Hull and Doncaster, and about the same distance from York. I've checked out all the ones out Hull way but not the Doncaster ones.

i have been using viscum water gardens, they have three shops, only been to two of them the one at barnburgh has the best selection of cichlids and the one at Finningley is closer but has a smaller stock levels, i have also been and bought from hemswell fish farm located at hatfield only a couple of miles away from me, also carl at midland malawi has a good selection of stock at low prices and they post aswell :)

Are you sure they aren't 2 males? Female peacocks, even the line bred ones, tend to be silvery/creamy/brown and very bland. Definitely looks like a Rubin Red to me. Maybe one fully coloured male and a sub-adult male?

Yeah it arrived but sent it back on the van on the same day. I cheaped out and got an imported one (not sure if I can name brands?) but quality just wasn't there. Asked to see the stand off the van before hauling up 3 flights of stairs and the glass tank wasnt well finished either. It wasn't like anything was cracked or broken but just felt it wasnt a reflection of the money I had paid. I've cancelled the order until later in the year as will be moving again

Fed up of renting! Until then the peacocks are going to stay in the Vision (none are full grown yet so have time on my side) but the Victorian tank dream is a good while away for now (if can ever find them!).

To be honest, I've read pretty much non-stop on the subject of peacock/hap tank sizes (resigned from work, so not taking it very seriously at all!!) and 4ft for most is adequate (also, that was advice that rifty gave, and he really knows his stuff having kept a massive variety of malawis), with 5ft or more opening up more possibilities. For now I'm going to see how what I have grows and colours in the 260 as it will probably only be until October/November time and then decide from there. I've sorted the background and got a couple of newbies so will update my thread too.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to seeing how yours is coming along - especially the mbuna/peacock mix. Any issues so far with it?

they are all getting along so far with only a couple skirmishes, the dominant peacock stayed behind the ocean rock wall for a while with only glimses every now and then with the sub dom free swimming keeping out the dominant's way, after 2-3 days the dominant has starting to feed but will only take sinking pellets not the floating ones and is being at the front of the tank more :)

must cost a fortune renting properties london

have you thought of a acrylic tank there is a guy on ebay advertising them the biggest he can make is a 6ft x 3.5ft probably would have to make your own stand but could work out cheaper in the long run

amazing colour!

Thankyou i am looking for some females (fish) :)
