beautiful ! try to get a picture of the little fan hands - they are so cute !

yea i'll try to get a picture of his fan hands, but he's always hiding when he eats, actually he's rarely out on a rock likehat i was lucky enough to get a picture of him then :)

nicklfire, wow, I paid $9.99 Canadian plus applicable taxes for mine!

I put him in the tank around 2 this afternoon, watched him for awhile, then he disappeared under a peice of Mopani, havent seen him since!
I will try to get a pic or two when I catch him out!

Wild looking shrimp!
Love it.

I have a few questions however.
I did some research online and came up with the usual, they can tolerate a wide range of Ph, temp and do well in a peaceful tank, but what about C02 levels and Nitrate levels?
Will either of the above be a problem in the long run?
Natrually I acclimated him, 20 minutes approx.

I keep my nitrate levels at approx 15-20ppm and C02 around 30 ppm.

To my knowledge with ur supplied levels of

I keep my nitrate levels at approx 15-20ppm and C02 around 30 ppm.

He'll be perfectly fine, but... over the next couple months, you barely see him, he'll be hiding alot, and he'll be molting. One day you'll wake up and see his skin everywhere. Believe it or not they actually like being with other shrimps and for that price, get a couple more, theyare great for picking up micro algae out of the tank aswel, they are just really cool man.

They are pretty hardy, unlike fish they are pretty quiet tho.. kinda like there own personality, he'll come out once in a while but dont be scared if you never see him, he is eating always.. even when you think you never see him, it's cool when he opens up his little fans too :)

good luck

if you got anymore questions im here

oo yea by the way, they change color with there mood...
right now mine is a vibrant reddish brown :)

right on.
Yea, I read they change from browns to red, thats way cool.
I want another but this was the last one at the lfs, they only got 4 in and 3 were spoken for already!
But, I will get another if they bring them in again.

Now, what about other shrimp?
Once and awhile I'll buy 100 of em to spread through out my tanks, will the flower shrimp have a problem with them?

Thanks again for the responses!

Mine is out and about all the time - he has loads of hiding spaces in the heavily planted tank, but is very active throughout the tank and very visible. Is that unsusual ?

I have bad news.
My flower shrimp died 4 hours after I bought him.
Water stats are fine, checked them myself and had the LFS check as well.
They have a 3 day money back or exchange, providing your water stats are within normal params, so I'll be getting another one in approx 2-3 weeks for free.
What a disappointment. :/

they had 4 come in and guess what?
All four people that bought one brought it back within one day because it had died, seems it may be a stress related problem.

Oh dear what a shame :-(

Hope you have better luck next time !
