so i got a cheap 8 gallon tank £6

micro jet filter mcf70 and tetratec 100w heater were about £10 for both

bogwood from crowded (too much "stuff" 24 gallon)

plants from tachbrook tropicals today, bout £17

hood is waiting for lighting to work

ummm yeah it's only just had "stuff" put in it, no fishies yet but i think it looks ace :D

ps- i've just realised in these pics i've got no background! imagine it with background :D :D

new fish tank

it's literally been 2/3 hours that's why it's murky as fook!

may invest in co2 dependant on how well things do, also might involve one of numerous air pumps i've got on the cheap.

i think it'll make a nice home for some tetra's and wee cories?

cheers for looking my friends
andy

Yea, it could be a nice home for some dwarf corys (pygmy) and some type of small tetra like a cardinal or neon. Or maybe you could get some cherry barbs.

come on you could be a bit more enthusiastic!! :p

exactly my thoughts love fish. planning to try to get plants to live first though

ummmmmmm would it be possible....once heavily planted properly etc, to keep a dwarf puffer in this tank?

i'll be putting this into the oddball section aswell, just looking for info

that's what prompted the question really. i saw that you need 5g per dwarf puffer....do 8g should be ok.

just gotta get the ruddy plants to take and thrive first!

ive read that theres other puffers that can be kept in a 5g, google pufferlist.com and it gives a list and profiles for heaps of puffers. not sure i would keep some of them in 5 g's tho.

exactly, just cos somewhere says it doesn't mean it'd be in the best intrest of either me or fishies.

plus i saw some rams in a shop near me so i think it's a 2 rams, a few tetra's and a small group of tiny cories.

one day i'll get me a puffer though

make sure you get a male and female ram.

i have 2 males and the damn things are fighting.

keep having to break em up from li locking eachother lol.

they havent hurt eachother yet but ill be rehoming one asap cos i dont wanna risk it.

was going to make sure. i had a good look at the undersides of the rams in the tank. they had 3 and two of them were pink underneath....that means two are female?

still only cycling now. in what order should i introduce my fish? i assume tetra, cory, ram

ahhhh. dammit i thought i learnt something! i'll read up and make sure to ask the shop people

order for stocking anyone?

well that could be a way too altho i think mine have kinda red bellys. lights are off now so i cant check for ya either.

id say you had the order about right altho my guys have never bothered my neons and there in there with 16 of them aswell as other tetras.

i would go for the neons first tho, atleast then they mite have a lil bit of power as the first residents.

EDIT - bad news dude!!

and i guess i should of known better but this page

http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=59127

says 20G minimum tank size.

mite have to rethink it.

t was more this type fella(admittedly a balloon variey), and the gentleman that served me has had to put up with me for 4 times this week so i'd like to think we'd bonded; he said they'd be fine...(perhaps more research)

"Sexing: Females have a pink belly and are fatter. The dorsal rays are also shorter. Males have longer black dorsal rays and a more of a yellow tint to their bodies. Males are sometimes larger than females."

we were both right! back of the net!
