Hi we have just bought a Juwel Rekord 70L (L61, W41, H46). Its our first tank and were trying to decide what fish to stock it with. We are intrested in puting an Angle in, is the tank suitable. Any Suggestions for other fish to go with the angle would also be appreciated.

Thanks for the help

angelfish really need 15gallons minimum...but your close to that...so probably a single angelfish would fit in but i would choose smaller fish like platy's or guppies

(correct me if im wrong)

for angel fish height is important, its so many inches but not sure on the figure, really should find out though think its about 18" somewhere around that figure, but they are gorgeous, just don't keep them with small fish like neons or fish with long flowing fins like guppys or bettas :good:

i think the conversion for 70l works out at US 22g or UK 18g. How big will an angel grow, dont want to put one in if it wont be happy

thanks again

thats defo too big. thanks for the help any suggestions on suitable fish would be good, we have been looking but its confusing for our first time. so many different types. if any one else has a similar tank we would be interested in finding out what fish you keep, thanks

i have a 60litre and in it is:

1 red platy
1 sunset platy
1 tuxedo platy
3 black skirt tetra's (to be rehomed)
3 guppies

all small, very colourful active fish!

GUPPIES! i love guppies, never boaring, always active, come in many colours and patterns and are hardy too (well some not the over inbred ones). I would stick to small colourful fish, that dosn't mean boaring fish though.

A Rekord 70 is 24" long and 18" high, 19 US gallons (not counting deplacement). Bit short for an angel, though the height is right. I have the same tank, at present home to a few odds and ends: 3 corydoras, a female bristlenose (pushing it a bit there), a single male platy and some amano shrimps.
A nice stocking would be a group of 4-5 corydoras for the bottom, and then for the higher layers either a school of tetras (6 or so) or some female platies and/or some cherry barbs.

thanks for the info folks. going to get our first fish tomorrow. hopefully all goes well. still open to more suggestions if anyone has any.

definately fishless cycle your tank before adding fish! its very simple

answer to your question though:
I have a 90L ish tank. Ive got 7 serpae tetras, 6 zeb danios and will be adding 4 corys.

Thats top middle and bottom! awight !

I have a 55 litre aquarium, and i've got;

5 Zebra Danios
4 Bronze Corys (amazing little catfish)
2 Dwarf Gourami
1 Betta (although contemplating getting him his own tank)

Tbh its entirely down to what you want. Although i dont want to name the site, there is a program called a community creator where you can put in your tank specs, then select oyur fish, and it will highlight any problems you might have. PM me if you want the link.

Scunny.
