New 65 Watt 6700k Hood, But Not Sure What It Needs To Be Over

Ok, So I got my new 24" 65 watt light for my 20 gallon high tank, but i'm unsure whether I should just mount it over the open water or if I should have a glass cover on the aquarium? Heres the link and you can also see the mounting fixtures below.

I think you should probably just use a pane of glass and put this on top, but if you don't use glass and just mount this over open water do you have the mounting brackets/legs?

Nope I need to get the legs, but I'm afraid it will overheat if I just sit it on the glass

Nope I need to get the legs, but I'm afraid it will overheat if I just sit it on the glass

buy it, see how hot it gets. if it gets too hot, then use something too elevate it a little bit off the glass. The glass will keep out dust and particles.
