i tore down my 55 g community tank and started from scratch. i went to the pet store and bought 3 yellow labs and two electric blues. i dont think the electric blues are legit but they are blue. i also have one sydontis cat and a raphael cat that i never see. i put in 12 granite rocks that i found in my backyard. in another tank i have a jewel cichlid can i put it in with the others? please criticize away i want to have a good well working african cichlid tank.

First of all, all criticism is meant for constructiveness (is that even a word?), and is in no way, shape or form, meant to be mean.

Alright, if by electric blue you mean Sciaenochromis fryeri , then you may have a problem, since they can reach around 7 inches long, which is a bit big for a 55.

The raphael may get bullied.

Jewel cichlids are from lake Tanganyika, while your other cichlids are from lake Malawi, and between the two lakes, there are different water parameters, and Tanganyikans tend to be on the more placid side.

It sounds like you have a good start, and if possible, posting pictures would be nice :hyper:

i have tried posting pics but my photobucket account wont let me. and my electric blue is a blue johannii.

Jewel Cichlids are from Africa but require a lower Ph than Malawi Cichlids. They can also be extremely aggressive and can be difficult to house with most fish, even other aggressive cichlids.
I would leave the Jewel where it is and continue stocking the 55G with other Malwai Cichlids. Consider some of the following:

Iodotropheus sprengerae
Pseudotropheus acei
Cynotilapia afra
Metriaclima estherae
