Well, when you move the tanks over to the new one, move all the filter media also, to avoid new tank symdrome. Moving the media effectively instantly cycles the tank for you

Monitor your ammonia and nitrite stats with a liquid kit for a week after the move over to ensure the filter media bacteria didn't die off in the move
If you are going canister, there are two main types to look at in the UK; Tetratec and Eheim. Where are you based, as this affects equipment availability. Tetratecs are available under the brand name Marineland in some other contries. If on a budget, Tetratec are the best, but if you have cash, Eheim are good also, but IMO not worth the extra money, even though they have the best reputation

You wont to look at the Tetratec EX1200 for your tank, or the Equivilant Eheim pro2 model
With heaters, having extrunal filtration, I'd get a Hydor in-line heater, that is also extrunal. They are more efficient than conventional heaters, and thus cost less to run. They also use the filter flow to spread the heat more evenly

If you want to go internal, Visitherm by Aquarium Systems are the best internal heaters about. The origional 30 year old ones of this brand are still running, so they last well. You pay extra for this reliability, but the cheaper ones will have failed within 5 years I bet

The Hydor in-lines are electronically controlled, so in theory should last longer than the Visithems, and will fail off, where as the Visitherms will probibly fail on, cooking all your fish. This rarely happens though, as most of the Visitherms made are still going strong

Avoid the 300W narrow pipe Hydor, as these are apparently leaky, though the wider pipe 300W model works fine, and I've been running one for a few months now without issues
