Hello, I'm a beginner, and I currently have a one gallon tank with two goldfish, and am investing in a 35 gallon hexagon tank since this will be much more healthy for them. I do plan to get a couple more goldfish for the new tank. What do I need to know about starting this new tank? What should I do when transplanting the old fish into the new tank?
Thankyou!

Well first add the sustrate, decor, and water. Second, cycle the tank (how to is pinned on top) and adjust to proper temp. Third, add the fish.

Four goldfish will eventually need a much larger tank. A lot of people figure that the first goldy needs 30 gallons and then 10 gallon more for each additional fish. When you get your tank, make sure you get a big filter. Goldfish are terribly messy. I would suggest you get one rated at least 300 gallon per hour to handle the amount of waste they will produce.

I wouldn't bother with a hexagon shaped tank because they tend to be taller instead of wider. Goldfish would especially prefer a tank with more surface area as opposed to being tall. For 4 goldfish, go for a 4 foot long tank and the wider, the better since some goldfish get to be 12"+ long... so they would need some turning room as well as length to swim.

I know it sounds like a lot for goldfish, but when you see them personally in a proper setup when they are full grown, it is very impressive and awesome.
