I read a lot of these forums and bought a new tank and thought long and hard....what yall think?

Couple ferns and onions in there. I plan on adding more sometime soon but this is good for now.

Looks good. Glad to hear you have chosen a fishless cycle. Keep up the good work. :good:

Not too fancy, not too plain, I like it!. I like the pottery in there - your fish will like the hiding spots.

i plan on adding a lot more plants.

Question: How do you keep the plants down? The rocks dont hold them well lol

I was looking at African Chiclids(sp?) once i am done with the cycling.

I wouldn't bother with the plants if you going for rift lake cichlids. Just lots of rock, preferably slate. :good:

Really nice fish though, lots of personality. :good:

i would go with some kribensis. they like pots and hiding places and will go fine with ur plants. they are pretty and easy to manage and breed.

they also like pair off so females and males, NEVER two females+ alone. but i think you could get away with a couple males.. but they are a pairing fish and good for beginners in breeding and chichlids
