What are the best fish to use for cylcing a brackish set up?

None, brackish fish tend to be much more sensative to nitrogen pollution than freshwater fish, a fishless cycle would be best.

light or heavy SG. ? if its below say 1.005 the Id say fresh water cycle but above that the salt will kill the FW nitrobacteria. I'd say guppies if you simply must do a fish cycle but a fishless would be better heck even a dead fish cycle would be better just toss in a chunk of tuna and keep the tank were you wont smell it for the next 6 weeks then do several water tanks. SW cycles take longer than FW and remember to heat it up to about 85 tohurry the cycle along. Also remember that all of the live bearers (except halfbills) are brackish why not look in the odd balls section CFC wrote a great article.
