Hi
I currently have a 60 L Tank with (2) Goramis, (3) Ottos, (4) zebra loach and (4) cherry Barbs. Im moving them to a 240L Tank over the next 3 weeks and was wondering what other fish to add to this community.

I had wanted Bala or Red Tailed Sharks but got conflicting stories about there behaviour.? I was also thinking of Angel Fish or something big , colourful and bold.

If anyone has any ideas on what to add please let me know.

Btw, Im not a newbie, its just that i havent been on this site in months and had to re register.

i believe bala sharks may need a much bigger tank than that, they can also be very agressive, I wouldn't risk putting them in with smaller fish like barbs.

for angels the tank needs to be at least 18inches tall, but aside from that I see no reason why not, think they'd make quite a nice combination.

Hi

Red tail black sharks are excellent community fish. Either have 1 or a school of four, otherwise they will cause trouble. Also beware to not add anther fish from same family ie Albino Shark or they will argue over territory. I have one with two Gourmis, pleco, 2 Bravarian Rams and there are no probs whatsoever.

The larger Angel fish can nip fins. I have my own personal opinion that they don't appear to have great personalities.

Hope this helps.

As for a larger tank, I have only recently moved to a 100L myself, I have 1 gourmis, 2 Firemouth Cichlid, 1 pleco, Fire Eel, 4 clown loaches (excellent fish to watch) and 2 rainbow cichlids.

The Tank is definitely 18" tall, its a corner unit tank with a curved front, its a smasher and i cant wait to introduce some big fish.

Are you sure that 4 Red Tailed Sharks will be ok to add.??

Ive read alot about Red Tailed Sharks but no one has said if they are bottom, middle, or top dwellers.?? can anyone answer this, thanks

I have 1 RTBS, as far as i am aware and have read they are very territorial (sp?) and should only be kept on their own, and anything that looks like them avoided. My lfs has a notice to this effect i.e. 1 per tank- they are bottom dwellers.

I think ill go with 1 RTBS to start with. It seems all my fish are bottom dwellers, can you reccomend and middle dwellers..like maybe Angelfish.?

i think its ether 1 RTB or 4+ as they fight between themselves and under no curcumstance have anthing of simmilar genus(?!?) aka nothing like a ruby, albino shark etc

By the way, how long should i cycle my new 240L tank before adding the contents of my old 90L tank which currently houses the following:

2 x Gold Gouramis
4 x Cherry Barbs
3 x Zebra Loaches
3 x Ottos

Is there a time limit or should i get thim in as soon as the water is at the right temp. Should i introduce them gradually or all in one go.?

Any help appreciated.

why don't you try fishless cycling? :) it'll avoid stressing out your fish. also, your fish won't get sick or die from ammonia poisoning this way. once your tank has fully cycled you can add all of your fish.

my sister has three red-tailed black sharks and one of them bullies the others, so i'd recommend against getting rtbs. :( you could always add more fish to the groups you have. barbs like to be in bigger groups of six or more and your ottos might also like another member or two. if you want something big and bold, discus are a good option. they're peaceful but may eat smaller fish like neon tetras, though i think all of your fish should be fine. but make sure your water quality is very good because discus can be sensitive.

good luck! :)

U need to look up cycling and maybethink about putting some if not all of your filter medium fromyour old tank into your new one to keep the beneficial bacteria going. Or you could always run your old filter alongside your new filter for a week or two that will transfer your bacteria over
