Here is a picture of my new 2 foot tank, which is set up and ready to go, except for a lack of fish

It is a clearseal tank 24 x 12 x 15 inches, I make that about 14 UK gallons.

Plants went in on Monday, just a random selection from my lfs, so no idea what they are called! The rock is one I bought for my smaller tank without thinking properly, but it looks OK in this one.

Might add a few more plants but I don't know if the light is good enough - it is a 15 watt fluorescent tube.

Proposed stocking changes day to day, but at the moment I'm thinking of:

1 male dwarf gourami
8-10 tetras (I wanted lemon but can't find them, so maybe red phantom tetras or glowlight tetras)

OR

3 honey gouramis (1 male 2 female)
6-8 tetras

OR

4 zebra danios
6-8 tetras

OR

2 bolivian rams
8-10 tetras

So many lovely fish, it's so hard to choose

Suggestions on the tank or the stocking very welcome as I'm quite new to this.

I like the Ram and tetra idea too.
Make sure you fishless cycle the tank before getting any fish. The Rams are quite sensetive, so you will have to wait a while before adding them. Atleast 3months.
The rock looks like lava rock. It's fine for your tank.
Btw, nice tank :)

Looks good so far :good:

I would put some cories in as well ;)

Thanks everyone. I am going to cycle it using some media from my other tank, but I'm waiting at the moment as I've had some problems in the other tank and I want to make sure that one's stable before I remove any media.

I like the ram idea too, but my lfs doesn't seem to have them so I need to shop around a bit.

I like cories but the gravel might not be suitable I don't think.

The tank now has fish in it :good: Because the small tank which the children had has been converted to a betta tank, I have moved our livebearers into the new tank - 2 platys, 1 guppy, and 1 platy fry about 3 months old. Also added 4 x-ray tetras.

So the stocking plan has been amended to take this into account. Would this be too much?

3 platys (all female, not pregnant)
3 male guppies
8 x-ray tetras
2 bolivian rams
6 cories
1 BN plec

Just thought I'd update you all with how the tank looks now. I added the long airstone today, and moved the plants to form two groups at each side. The tree root ornament is about to be replaced with a piece of bogwood (when it turns up from ebay!) and I haven't decided whether to keep the large lava rock.
