I bought a 10 gallon tank from a bargain shop, only to find a 15 gallon with even more supplies for half the price. That's for another day though.:)

Anyway. Right now I have a Regen Power Filter that came with it. It does not say what unit it is, like Aquaclear 200 or anything, just power filter. Is this a decent filter to use? If not, what would be an appropiate one to use? I bought a heater also, so I think I'm set in that department.

I want to get a new hood for the tan so that I can get decent lighting. I plan to have atleast 2.5wpg of lighting, because I want to plant quite heavily. I want to use white sand, but I don't know where to get it. Anyone know? I'll be doing a fishless cycle of course.

Now, to the stocking list. I'm not sure if this is overstocking, so please someone point that out.

6 Harlequin Rasbora
4 Khuli Loaches

Anything more you want to know, just ask. I just wanted to make sure I'm doing everything right. :D

I dont know how white you want it, but my sand is fairly light.. see the pic below.. its the argos playsand with laterite underneath.

Are you sure khuli loaches will be small enough?
I know other loaches get quite big

If you're just having the six harlequins, I'd increase the number of kuhlis to something nearer 6/7. They're generally much more active in larger groups, and are very low waste producing (as well as finding uneaten food you didn't even realise you had).

Ok, how about 7 of each? That sand looks alright Squid, I'll look around where I live.

Keep in mind that the wpg assumes you are using reflectors. Also keep in mind that you might struggle to root plants in pure sand and you might want to consider a thin layer of API First Layer Laterite underneath - this will make a big difference.

So I take it you got the 10 gallon - is that US or UK gallons ?

The stocking list looks fine to me :good:

So, is the filter fine?
You will be the best judge of that. It will certainly be fine for now at least. You can judge it's performance and upgrade if needed later.

10 US Gallons. I will be sure to use a thin layer of API First Layer Laterite underneath.

The filter appears to be good, although there is only one sponge for the beneficial bacteria. Maybe I'll get another Aquaclear 200. ;)
