Hi, I'm fairly new to the forums but have been reading everything i can as i want to set up a 10 Gallon tank, also my dad has kept a pair of 12"x12"x48" 12"x24"x48" community tanks for many years but seeing these I've been inspired to create something small of my own!

I've bought a 35 litre Arcadia Arc tank and an API master test kit to get me started on cycling, and will hopefully be creating an interesting planted tank. I was wondering if a pair of cockatoo dwarf cichlids would be ok in this kind of setup? and also would it be possible to have a couple of small shell dwelling cichlids and/or anything else that the expertise within the forums could suggest?

Thanks for looking! :good:

You could quite easily have a pair of Apistogramma in your tank and it would make a very nice breeding project. A small colony of Dwarf shelldwellers (such as Neolamprologus multifasciatus) would also be suitable but you can't keep them with the Apistos as they both have differing water quality requirements.

ah thanks for that! could've made a bit of a mistake there!! what could go with them? how would cories cope for example? the main focus would be on the Dwarfs, but would be good to have something small.. maybe something unusual that can help make the tank look a little more occupied...?

How about a few wild South American Nannostomus pencilfish?

I'm not sure where abouts you are but North lakes aquatics in Penrith stock them and Maidenhead aquatics have them. Also the specialist retailers like Swallow aquatics and Wharf aquatics will have them.
