just bought home 5 neons for my new tank but the filter seems to powerful for them, they are struggling against the current!! I have switched it off temporarily and they are fine but i know I will need it back on soon. Any helpful ideas would be appreciated!!

turn it back on! unless you want to kill them, your filter bacteria will begin to starve! the current is fine for them as long as you dont have a washing machine for a tank
Do you have a switch to turn filter flow down,
If not cuts a pair on clean tights upand put over the out flow pipe and secure with an elastic band.
Or use an old net.
Or cut a brand new net that you put soap powder in.

What size tank is it and what filter do you have on it? Neons aren't generally bothered by flow. It could be more of an issue with water issues if the tank is new and not cycled.
