I'm contemplating different community scenarios with my 55 gallon tank and was wondering in a heavily planted tank (along the back), with playsand and good filtration....what schooling fish would go well with;

12 neon tetras

12 harlequin rasboras

8 cories

2 rubberlip plecos

12 ghost shrimp

I want a fish species that is a little larger than the others and schools as a feature attraction, but wouldn't want to make lunch out of the ghost shrimp or the plants. :nod:

Still though.....even if its a smaller fish....any suggestions?

yuo could add 6 swordtails( 2 males, 4 females)

they some what school.

or

Mabye like a couple Rams would look nice.

I've had larger livebearers before (though I'm keeping guppies open as an option) and want to stay away from those as they're just not my type of fish and the zebra danios just drive me bonkers with their nonstop psychopathic darting. lol

Thank you for your help though.

Anything else?

Too early in the morning to work out your stocking levels, so you have to do the maths yourself, but the tank does sound like there's not a lot going on up the top, so how about a trio of gouramis, like honeys, or dwarwes or, if you have the room, pearls. They are quieter and more slow-swimming than either swordtails or danios. All right, not exactly schooling, but very attractive.
