hey everybody, totally new to this site and new to keeping fish. my problem that im having is that i purchased an elite aquarium starter pack 70 litre tank. it came with all the usual items, 100w heater, elite stingray filter etc.... problem is that my neons are getting caught behind the filter, i dont know if this ever happened to anyone before?? ive lost two so far :-( could anyone suggest any other types of filter as i dont want to lose any more. my tank has been running about two months now. so far ive (2) siamses fighting fish male/female. (2)nothabranchius kisak male/female. had (6) neona but two died, due to the filter. (1) bristlenose pleco. any information on a different filter would be great. thanks :)

hi, i had the same problem they are a very bad filter had nothing but problems with mine.
Fluval U2 is a very good internal but externals are much better overall with the fluval 05 series being popular.
Also it is not advised to keep a male and female Siamese fighting fish. have you had any problems with yours?

cheers for that ill look them filters up on the ebay. my fighting fish get on great, no problems. i was told you couldnt keep two males as they'l fight till theres only one left!!! would you recommend any other fish or should i leave it for abit?????

All fish have there own personalities so you might have been lucky.
i would up the numbers of the neons to 10 or so instead of adding new fish.
if you do want to get different fish i would ask on here first as LFS information can be poor at best.

ill up the number of neons once i get a new filter, i looked up that fluval 05 series, pretty impressive filter. have you this filter yourself??? would this size filter be o.k for my 70 litre tank, its my frist tank, if all goes well, ill upgrade my tank. ian.

i have a 205 on a 90L and it is brill. ive only had it a few weeks so cant say about reliability but i think it good.
and i have a U2 in a 60L with some very small neons and its fine.
make sure you move your filter media across correctly to your new filter to keep the beneficial bacteria alive.
Hope this helps
