I am figuring out what fish will work together in harmony. I would like to have a school of neon tetras, but have heard that they may be a bit nippie with Dwarf Gouramis. Then I heare from others that they have community tanks with both types of fish and they are doing great. Any thoughts on this?

For what it's worth, I've got both in my tank, and they never bother each other. And, from what I've seen and read, I would doubt that neons would nip at any fish.

I got a dwarf a few days ago, and he seems fine. Then again, I only have 4 neons and they stay to themselves...

No problem mixing dwarfs with neons.....neons will not bother any fish and dwarfs seem to only chase other dwarf gouramis.

Very colorful together, get as many neons as you can because the larger the school the better tetras look.

Good luck

As long as you have enough neons they shouldn't get nippy with the dwarf gourami. I kept mine together for months and they were completely fine. I didn't like how they had the exact same colors though. I like to have my fish contrasting with each other so they all stand out from each other.

Thank you!!!! I am really excited to get my fish. Right now I'm fishless cycling my tank and it's hard to wait til it's done. The up side of this is that I'm really doing some good research on what works  and what doesn't :-( in terms of fish, water, etc. etc. I'm getting some good ideas from you guys through advice and looking at your tanks. 8)

I've had a dwarf gourami with neons.
the neon shoal has grown from 4 to 14 over a very long time.
At no point has there been any problems at all. The nearest thing to a problem is that the neons are a bit more eager when getting fed so i have to make sure all the food doesn't get eaten before the gourami gets some.
But no agression at all.
