Neon Tetra swimming vertically - has been for 2 or 3 days, doesn't look other wise ill, but looks like hre's struggling to reach the surface. No other fish affected.

He's refusing food. He is in a very large net so he doesn't get picked on by the other fish. Do people here think he will recover, or is it better to put him down?

cheers

I had some von rio tetras do this and I researched it and found out that it was a swim bladder infection. You could put it in a hospital tank with just 2 inches of water and a little aquarium salt(that's the treatment I found for it) and wait to see if it gets better. I waited for about 2 weeks to see if they would get any better in my main tank but the didn't so I put them down. Sorry.

Bit o' blood worm or pea's would be the recommendation.. But as he's not eating it's a hard one. Not even sure about any medications - heard a lot are useless :/

Good luck!

He passed away this evening, was a real fighter though. It's a shame he struggled to stay upright for so long, but I guess that is nature. I wasn't sure if it was more humane to put him down sooner, but it's difficult to know.

I certainly couldn't do it. I'm a big cry baby when my fish die :( Sorry for your loss.
