Hi everyone,

I recently added four neon tetras to my established tank of 15 fish with include platys, catfish and a variety of other tetras. However, two after my neon were introduced i noticed that one had grown a lot in size and its stripe had tured bright orange, this seems to have happened overnight . Any one know why?

Thanks

Hi pinkhpos, I would definitely say that the changes were due to the change in its environment. Now to determine if changes are for the better or worse is another thing. It seems to me that if is eating, swimming naturally, and not being hassled by its other tankmates it must be doing good. This would indicate that is may have been stressed during transport. Now it is eating well and its color is looking better. Also, maybe it is doing better in your tank than at the Local Fish Store ( LFS ). Or, it could mean that there is an internal ailment and it is getting bloated and it is looking different in color.

Can you tell us about the water condition and the health of the fish that are already in the tank? Do you have a test kit for ammonia and nitrite?

are you sure it wasnt a glowlite tetra?

they look madly alike.

which stripe chaged? the blue one or the red one, if it was the redonecould it be that the color is draining from the stripe? that would be a syptom of neon tetra deseas, if not I'd say its a result of the change in environment
