Neon on its last fins

Just discovered a blue neon out of my shoal is literally on the gravel, shaking and gasping. Im not sure but it also seems like part of his tail is missing. I added some Tiger Barbs (x 6) over the weekend and no doubt one of them took a nip. Since the neons were put in over 2 weeks ago they have stayed behind plants for the day until its feeding time and only them do they show themselves. Is this normal...

Either way what should i do with the neon. Put it out of its misery or what. I have no other tank so putting him/her somewhere else isnt an option.

I put in 12 neons, and right now, including the sick one i can count about 10-11. Theres a pleco in there so no doubt he hoovered one up if it died.

Sorry he sounds bad, you can see him so it up to you, poor thing, might need to get some more tiger barbs.

well i found the missing neon. dead...head half eaten. I have taken the sick lil guy out and put him in a glass with some tank water. ive tried feeding him but hes motionless almost. time to send him to the big fish tank in the sky. I only the neons a short while and it really upsets me to have to do this.

But as the old saying goes, you have to be cruel to be kind, not that that is much consilation.
