Neolamprologus brichardi - aka fairy cichlid is down as a community cichlid in a book that I looked at over the weekend - that can't be right can it?

I always understood that it was aggressive and needed a lake T set up.

Anyone ever kept it in a general community?

That's a big no-no....I used to have a brichardi that was pretty tough and was actually in mbuna tank....they are pretty agressive even for their small size....

I agree, i've known them to be kept in some unusual setup's like with Mbuna and even New Worlds but certainly not in a general community tank. :/

I had to ditch mine out of my cichlid tank as it took an instant dislike to my Tropheus that my son had for his birthday - chased it and tried to kill it. Had no where else to put it other than in my guppy/platty tank.
Put some rocks in to form a couple of caves and hes happy in there. The guppies and glass catfish stay mainly to the upper reaches of the tank and the Fairy stays down round by his cave so it seems to work at the moment - He will be moving on to a new tank in a few months but for the time being hes in a community tank
