i would like a clown fish do they get on well with platties and guppies?

NO NO NO NO NO...they are a marine fish requiring a nano or full marine tank. Look in saltwater section. But, even then this is probably not a recomended thought being you didnt know this as saltwater tanks are much harder than freshwater.
