Power outage killed 2 of my ID sharks.. the 3rd is struggling to stay alive.. I cleared up it's fin rot, but it's eyes are now white. One is protruding quite far out of it's head, the other is showing only a little protrusion.

I have a feeling it's going to be blind..

but I'm looking for a good med to treat popeye.

I use pimafix/melafix which works to treat fungal infections and internal and external bacterial infections and it always works. always had my fish get through this so far... touch wood.

Pimafix didn't work.. It got rid of the fin rot, but the eyes have just gotten worse.

I'm going to the lfs tomorrow to find something.. I guess I'll just read the back of the meds and decide that way.

Popeye is pretty hard to cure as its pressure in the brain causing the eyes to bulge. This can be from various causes such as bacteria which may be happening to your fish .
Try to keep the water as clean as you can by daily water changes and maybe something like maracyn 1 and 2 together may help.
Let us know how you get on

He is in Canada

If you can get medicated food then that will help fight the bacteria from the inside.

Our office betta recently got popeye. I ran to Big Al's and grabbed some Maracyn 2 at the suggestion of one of the guys there. It's been 4 days and our betta is coming round nicely.

I am pretty sure he is blind in that eye now, but as long as I drop his pellets one by one in front of his good eye, he is eating.

I should add I considered medicated pellets but he wouldn't eat for the first 3 days.

Hope your fish gets better.

Yea my guy wont eat.. I have a feeling he can still be saved.. but he's most likely going to be blind.

I'll check for maracyn 2.. I almost stopped at big als on the way home today, but decided I would wait and see if anyone replied.. big als is too far away now to go back..

hopefully the close fish place will have some.. thanks everyone!

I had popeye and cloudy eye once and used Melafix. Cleared everything up. The eye was still popped out a tiny bit, but after changing the water and putting him back in the original tank, the pop eye went away after a few days.

This fish was 1 out of 3 that had their tails COMPLETLY bitten off. They had zero tail. One molly died, the other was a feeder gold fish that I used, I rescued him along with all other feeders. I now have a tank of gold fish. So the smal gold fish with no tail was on the verg of dying. Drifting along the bottom of the tank, not eating. Keeping him and the other molly in a hospital tank with MelaFix slowly brough them back to life. The Gold fish first. Stubacoy is his name :) Stuba as in Stuby, for his tail, and coy because he looked like those large pond coy gold fish. The molly had pop eye as an end result after he started getting better, that also went away though.

The eye popped overnight.. there's a bit of stringy stuff coming out, and it looks really irritated.

I'm going to keep doing water changes for a few days, but if that doesn't work I will get some new meds

I would add some melafix for now as with the eye popping the bacteria in the eye will now be in the tank.
