I have been fish cyclin my tank for 3 months, and it is now ready.

I have been to the fish store and got my fish, they are happy and still in the bag from the LFS.

I have done a 95% water change, but water is cold as it hsa come direct from the hose pipe.

How can i get tank temp up asap? what methods to you suggest? can i just more some water out the hot tap in?

is it defo a no no to add fish to a 'cold' tank?

Want to get them in asap, dont want them to be distressed sittin in the bag from the lfs

I would not add them to the cold tank, let it warm. The fish will be fine in the bag for 12+ hours, I buy & selll fish like thia at auctions all the time. Last weekend I bought some wild caught angels that were in the bag for over 12 hours, they all are doing fine.

It would be suicide to add them to a tank colder that 20 degrees. An out-break of whitespot would almost cirtainly occur  They will go throung far less stress waiting in the fish bags, waiting for the tank to warm, than they would going into a cold tank. Whent the LFS recives them, arround 50 fish will be in each bag, and their transit time is between 24 and 48 hours :( A few hours wait for you to sort the tank won't do them any harm.

All the best

 It's better to do a 20% to 30% water change every week. With the fish still in the tank. It's better for the fish. You also want to keep the temperature of the water about the same. It can really stress the fish otherwise. Good luck!.

This depends on your setup, and what you are trying to accomplish. I do weekly 50% to 80% water changes, sometimes more often on fry tanks, but it is a breeding setup. Discus people will often do large frequent water changes.

Cooler water changes are done to induce spawning with many species, most often those that originate from areas with definite dry & rainy seasons.
