Need To Double Check Something With Tectatec 700 ....

If anythings in a solid mesh material bag then leave it there :) makes it alot easier to remove/contain.

hi , its carbon in the pouch, you should remove the plastic bag around the pouch but leave it in the fine mesh bag. thanks Adam :good:

Ive used cheap filter wool for months, used to cut it to shape now just tear a hole for the inlet pipe and squeeze it in. You do have to change it more often (i change every 2/3 weeks) otherwise you might get by passing as it finds a path not through the wool.
I havent noticed any change in water quality, if anything its imporved as i change the wool more often because its a lot cheaper.
Hope this helps.
T.

£1.59. Order a few to justify postage, but postage is cheap anyway - £2 odd.

I use pond filter floss in mine and it works a treat :good: It comes in thicker sheets, and needs to take the place of the carbon (which BTW you don't need to run anyway) The thicker sheets I use are layered, so they don't clogg as quick, even though the upper layers catch more dirt than the manufacturers media

Carbon is exhausted in a few days, and after that it just takes up space in the filter that could be used for other things. I'd run it for a week at the most, and then get it out. Another bio-sponge or the floss I mention would make better use of that space, and they won't need replacing as often and also are cheaper when you do need to replace them

All the best
Rabbut

ive always used pond filter wool aswell, works the same, except much cheaper, just cut to size! :good:

Rubbish, just head to your local textiles (material) shop and buy a big sheet of wadding :) you can choose what grade you want (density) and buy it by the metre square. I got the densist of them and it set me back around £3/4 for 1m squared (lasted months and im not even half way through).
