Need Suggestions On A Fish To Keep My Platty Population Down

I must have strange luck. No matter what tank size I have, no fry ever survive unless i watch the mother like a hawk with a turkey baster for days on end and suck up fry as they drop and then put them away in their own tank. Tank sizes ranging from 3 to 75 gallon, and no fry ever survive. It's usually the parents that eat them first too. I even have had a single female dropping fry in a planted 10 gallon and she will find and eat all of them within minutes. I will echo the statement about Bettas though. Female Bettas are excellent at fry control. If the parents wont eat them, and the cichlids are leaving them alone (maybe the fry are too small to be hunted), then a female betta will certainly work. Males are probably a bit too slow.
