i am looking for some stocking ideas for my 75g tank. my other 55g tank has platys, harlequin rasboras, and pygmy cories in it, so i want something different.
the 75 has a sand bottom, silk plants.
i would like some cories or other bottom feeders.

my water is soft and has a PH of 7.8+. i am using 2 emperor 280 power filters, 560 GPH.

here is a pic of the tank:

wow severums look cool. they look like they get real big, guess that why you recommend only 1.

i aso read that they dont go with other community fish. from your recommendation i assume cories would be good tank mates. would my harlequin rasboras be ok too? pygmy cories?

rainbowfish like: Boesemani Rainbow and Praecox Rainbow?

I'd be tempted to go with a larger shoal of the smaller Praecox instead of fewer Boesmais. Their blue silver bodies and a larger number of them , say around 10, would look stunning .

hmm liveaquaria only sells green and gold severum.......and they look kinda plain. i almost like rams better.
any place online you can order severum from?

i like the redheaded or torquise. so would rasboras and pygmy cories be ok tankmates?

The rasboras may live precariously when the severum is fully grown, however, saying that I have 5 in my tank with 3 severums (left over from another tank) and they dont take the slightest bit of notice of them.

Corydoras will be absolutely fine with them too, again I have 13 of varying varieties with no problems. Praecox are lovely dithers too. I have 3 left with my boesemani and lacustris rainbows.

Green sevs grow into lovely colours as they age, or very common are gold severums :good:

theres that word again "dithers". can you enlighten me on the meaning?
never heard anyone using it.

well the rasboras can stay in my 55g no big deal.

and 12 cories would be easier i wanted to do 4 of 3 varieties.
i dont know how many pygmy cories are in my 55g, i doubt i could get them all out either. maybe they are better off staying in there.

1 severum
12 preacox
12 cories

feel like i need something else. any ideas?
could i do a ram? couple gouramis?

Dithers is a term used to mean fish that are pretty much always out and about, something that makes fish feel more comfortable, if there are others swimming around, then there cant be danger, sometimes referred to as target fish.

A severum would be dodgy with rams, as I was explaining to another member earlier, it may work, so long as you got the sev small and allowed it to grow with the rams around, its trial and error, you could get a placid severum on the other hand, you could get one which once grown, decides he doesnt like the look of them and being that much larger could stress them to death - extreme but it happens.

You could have a shoal of tetras, obviously not neon or small in size, but bleeding heart, black phantoms etc would be ok.

Also a plec of somekind, bristlenose for example :good:

i did see this pleco and thought it was cool looking: Candy Stripe Pleco (L-137)
supposedly wont grow too large.

i dont want to chance with a ram then. i want everyone to get along, or at least not care about the others existence. :good:

would rummy nose tets be big enough?

1 severum
12 preacox
12 cories
12 tetras (rummynose?)
1 pleco

hows the stocking for my 75g.

BTW where can i purchase severum online. the green look nice, but i really like the torquise or redheaded or red spotted.
