My 60G is lacking in colour, some suggestions please to add some much needed colour, how much space do i have left to stock?

I like discus too and know there needs as ive kept before :) but any other suggestions are welcomed to give me some more ideas :)

What kind of water do you have ? What's your pH, kH & gH ?

In that size tank (and if you have a decent amount of space left), you can't beat Rainbow Fish for striking colour and general compatibility B) Though do keep in mind they "prefer" to have schools of 6 or so and will probably be at their best under those circumstances.

Hi. I was sort of wondering the same sort of thing. The 3 most obvious choices that i know of that aren't aggressive are neon tetras, cardinal tetras, and guppies. I suppose a red flame dwarf gourami and maybe some other gouramis are colourful as well but some get aggressive.

Bloozoo, i have not seen rainbows like that before. I have seen dwarf neon rainbows in person, but they are not as colourfull as those in your link. Do you know the scientific name of those fish? Melanotaenia boesmani? I would like to look them up on fishbase.org to learn more about them.

Actually, i think you're just about stocked in your 60g.

You should look into anything colourful that can live by itself (not in groups), and doesn't get over 6 inches.

I think Discus grow too big, so surely would be too big for your 60g. Also, not sure but would they actually go with what you already have? Would your fishies that you already have be dinner? Im only a beginner so wouldnt really know.

Well, Discus would be fine in a 60 gallon devoted to themselves, but it's too small for a Discus community.
In fact, the only problem would be the barb, a tad agressive for the Discus. Nothing would really be dinner. Everything gets over 2inches.

Pirrannahs. Then a small school of adult oscers, and some tropical gars. Maybe add a few Saltwater sharks in there too.

I'm sure... :shifty: You'll have no problems whatso' ever! :sly: :shifty:

:D

I had my discus living with my golden barb they were fine togheter i think i may just one, i know some contraversial things are being said about keeping one, but i had one by itself before and when i inquired about getting more other people on this forum said just keep it at one if the discus is happy by itself......plus there are dither fish to make it feel safe......all these fish are compatible to whoever asked that, there is a big display tank in my LFS with all these fish in, and i doubt they would put them all togheter if they wernt going to get along....

i dont think im stocked im not saying i want to go over stocked but im running a filter which has the capacity for around a 75-80G tank...its so empty in there...what small fish are colourful then that dont need groups...??

i dont like the rainbow fish they are an ugly shape i have 3 dwarfs anyways already.

i dont like the rainbow fish they are an ugly shape

thats the thing. You either love them or hate them.
i think their color makes up lots for their...un attractive figure

Well, a 75-80 gallon filter doesn't really change anything other than the cleanliness of the water.
If you wait, the Congos will each reach 3 inches, and the pearl gouramis reach 5 inches.

The black tetras should get to 2 inches. If you wait, your tank will start to fill out without you adding any more fish. The synos will get to about 10 inches.

EVEN if you use the 1gallon per inch of fish rule:

6 congos x 3" each = 18

6 Black tetras x 2" each = 12

3 Dwarf Rainbowfish x 2.5" each = 7.5

2 Pearl Gouramis x 4.5" = 9

Synos (angelicus) x 10" each = 20

SAE x 6" each = 12

Golden barb x 3" = 3

= 81.5"

And we all know we're not to follow that rule.

It's safe to say you're fully, even, overstocked.

Lol, even big tanks like 60Gs get over stocked!
Although, a 60G seems way bigger than my 55G, even though its only 5Gs :D

meh i might get rid of the synos anyways there a pain in the bum....knock 20 inches of my total

but i will wait and see what happens now then...spose im just being a bit impatient in wanting to fill up the tank doh!
