Need Some Stocking Ideas.

ok so my Golden nugget pleco passed away today and my tank is looking even more bare. currently i have 2 x clown plecos, 1 female bristlenose pleco and 3 peppered corys.

they all get along with each over and the problem was between the gn and bn.now i want a peaceful community within the tank so stocking ideas based around that fact.

i have just bottom dwellers at the moment so looking for mid to high.no known fin nippers, and nothing too big. 6 inches max really.

tank size is 50g, temp is 79f, water stats are perfect.

im definatly getting some more corys, probably around 7 to make it 10 corys, they look awesome in a shoal,and a male bn. i might even consider over stocking slightly to reduce any foul play that may happen.

any ideas welcomed

hatchet fish are really cool in the top zone or an african butterfly fish provided you have a lid that is
for the middle you could go for congo tetras or bleeding heart tetras or boesman rainbows are really nice

I know u said no fin nippers but I have my Tiger barbs w/ my BN and they never bothered him, I don't remember them nipping at my peppered cories and Julii cories too when they were together. Or maybe Gouramis, Tiger Barbs will give your tank lots of activity.
Some people had bad luck with them tho.

hatchet fish are really cool in the top zone or an african butterfly fish provided you have a lid that is
for the middle you could go for congo tetras or bleeding heart tetras or boesman rainbows are really nice

the lid / hood in my sig was just temporary.i now have a different one on there.lol

the African butterfly fish are quite interesting, do they like a current though? i have to keep the surface moving because of the oxygen levels for my plecos.

I'll be honest, I don't know if I would add a male bn, if yours breed he will be pretty territorial from what I've heard, and then you'll have fry to deal with.

And 79F sounds a little on the warm side..


Not sure how tall you tank is, but if it's tall enough, maybe angels and a school of something?

Blue tetras (Boehlkea fredcochui) seem to be a more peaceful tetra from what I've found and only get about two inches.

I have Dwarf flame and Pearl Gourami in my 35 right now they're pretty peaceful, never bothered my Julii cory and peppered cory chases my black skirt and black phantom tetra sometimes but not a damage on their fins or signs of stress. Gouramis are safer.

Couple of angels would be nice, depends on how tall your tank is, there are lots of nice cichlids that get to 6" that would go nice too.

you could have a nice school of Rummynoses in there, with the tank being long it would look quite effective.

yes the african butterfly fish likes some current in the water i like them as there something a bit different
