I'm trying really hard to act normal
I know this board is filled with these type of questions, but I need some outside suggestions and guidance with how to deal with my overstocked tank. I know, I know...I'm horrible, shame on me for some impulse buys, but I'm going to try and correct my mistakes before I loose any fish to it.
My water perimeters are:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20
I need help determining what to do with my 65 gallon tank (and buying another tank is unfortunately not an option). I know I will be grossly overstocked if I was to let all of these fish become full grown in this tank...so here is how it stands:
(these are current sizes - not full grown)
9 cories (2 pandas, 2 spotted, 4 peppered, 1 skunk) - currently 1 inch or under
3 kuhlis - around 3 inches
7 marbled hatchets - one inch each
6 danios (long finned blue) - 2 inches
3 platys - 1.5 inches
4 mollys (three 1 inch, one 2.5 inches)
1 krib - almost 3 inches
1 yo-yo loach -almost 3 inches
3 angels - around 1 inch each
2 pencilfish - 1.5 inches each
9 glowlights - around 1 inch each
3 ottos - around one inch each
2 honey gouramis - one inch each
1 long-finned ram - 2 inches
So 54 fish total, and currently holding 75 inches of fish, and if they were all full grown it would be around 105 inches of fish...ahh!!
The six danios will be going to a friend in a few days (so there's 12 inches), and the platys will go in a ten gallon. This would be around 90 inches, 25 extra inches.
Here are my questions, with extra care could I handle the extra inches, or should I rehome about 12-15 more fish? (I know the less fish the better, but I'd like to keep as many fish as possible, while keeping the tank health)
I know that amount of food and what not contribute to how fast fish will grow, but on average how long do I have before these fish start getting close to full-grown?
This was brought on by my angels clamped fin, although the water perimeters are fine, I have to think that the overstocking is the cause.
