Hello everybody. I have just bought a java fern for my 10g tank. My plan is to also buy hair grass and moneywort too. The moneywort will be surrounding the tank on the back and side walls and the hair grass will fill in the substrate. When Im done you won't even be able to see the gravel. Anyways, my LFS stopped selling live plants so I looked online. I found this site. On it I can buy hair grass. Anyway they sell it by the bunch and I wasn't sure how many bunches I should buy. In the end I would like the whole bottom of the tank covered with it like carpet.

Thank you for your help! :D

Ive gotten all of my plants from there and they never let me down. Ive even got some hairgrass from them. I would say, go with 5. They sell them in pots and you get a pretty good amount. Its better to buy a little and let it spread than buy too much and not allow it space to grow.

Once you get em, let them settle in your tank for a couple hours in the pots. Then take em out and split up the bunches into smaller clumps. Trim just a tiny bit off the roots and tips of the grass and it(ime) will grow and acclimate a bit quicker. In a lowet light, low tech setup, for me this dwarf hairgrass grew pretty slow. When I put it in my high tech pressurised co2 setup, it grew pretty quick and needed weekly trimming which made it spred even faster.

Thanks so much for your reply! :D

So when you say "let them settle in your tank" what exactly do you mean? Is that like similar to the process of acclimating fish?

Once again thank you, this was exactly what I needed. :D

Yea, where do you live? If its cold they might be kind of stiff are sorta wilted looking. Even if its not cold, they will be stressed from shipping and could use a good soak in fresh water. I'm pretty sure they grow submersed at liveaquaria so thats a good thing.

Its around 20F where I live. So when I get them should I let them soak in freshwater for a certain time? Is five minutes good? Also, should the freshwater have any conditioner like Prime or StressCoat + added, or should it be straight from the tap?

Thanks for your reply. :)

Dechlorinated at tank temp would be best. 5-10 minutes should be fine.

Okay thanks! I just ordered them with 2 day Saturday shipping. They should be here on soon! :D

Ill post pics if you want to see them after I add it. ;)

Ok here they are!
