I think khulies prefer to be in groups - so maybe get another couple of them? Not sure about others to add - I dont know enough yet

Yah, my just got my khuli a couple days ago and hes looking kinda lonely, so i understand where you get they need to be in groups. the only had one at the pet store so ill check around to find another one. thanks for the info :D

What kind of pleco is it? It may not stay small...

Get a few more of the same species of tetra you have...tetra are schooling fish and like to be in slightly larger groups (like 6+).

Personally I'm a fan of rasboras since they tend to be very peaceful and school nicely. If available look for Dwarf rasboras Boraras maculatus which can be really stunning: http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Boraras_maculatus.php

a green terror or a jack dempsey .. calmist fish in the world next to convicts
umm, i was looking into a jack dempsey but i only have a 20 gallon tank lol, plus they are agressive fish wouldnt they eat my tetras alive?? and i cant find a green terror..

umm, im not really sure..(sorry for my lack of fish knowledge im only 15 lol, but i love fish) but the max size is supposed to be 6", but for the past 8 months ive had it, it hasnt grown at all and its about 3" right now, and he always stays on the gravel not on the sides, is that normal?

ya they are really bad i was just messing around cuz i was bored aha --- pretty fun fish tho..

Sorry, I'm not an expert on plecos either...was just making sure you didn't have a tank busting common, but yeah I think most species of pleco grow a little too big for 20 gallon tanks.

The kind of tetras you have kinda affects things too since some of them get larger than others... like Congos (8 cm) vs Neons (4 cm).

The fact that you said you pleco got to around 6" possibly suggests it is a Bristlenose. They are common and are excellent tank cleaners.

How about a pair of gourami? A pair of mollies/swordtails/platies? The possibilities are endless, you could even try a Siamese Fighter.

Lol peaceful? Barbs are horrible and nasty... well in my experience. Some are not that bad like Rosy and Odessa, but it entirely depends on the individual fishes temperament.

Some Gouramis can be aggressive. I think the calmer ones are Pearl and Dwarf. Very pretty.

Mollys can be nasty too.

Rasboras are not barbs. And I have never known rasboras to be horrible and nasty.

Whether a Siamese fighter would work depends to a great extent on what species of tetra you've got.

Swordtails on the whole are better in slightly larger tanks and better as trios than as pairs. And it is very difficult to estimate the adult size or temperament of mollies since there is so much hybridisation. A group of platies would be better given the tank size.

Gouramis are not necessarily peaceful, at least not when kept as pairs- again would depend on species.

What I would do is to fill up the school of tetras and the group of khuulies and leave it at that.

And maybe post a pic of your plec in the catfish forum to have him identified. What are you feeding him?
